Your passwords. Your storage location.
Store your credentials exactly where you want them: locally on your device, on USB, or in your own storage – with no forced cloud.
Password Depot is developed in Darmstadt, does not require a vendor cloud, encrypts your data with AES-256, and supports passkeys (FIDO2/WebAuthn). It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android as well as in common browsers.

External penetration test
SySS GmbH, Tübingen · December 2025
In December 2025, SySS GmbH examined Password Depot 19.0.0 in a penetration test over ten person-days. Among other things, cryptography, man-in-the-middle, and brute-force scenarios were tested. Result according to the report: No critical security vulnerabilities found.
A password vault you can trust
-
Strong encryption
Password Depot encrypts your data with AES-256. Multi-layer protection mechanisms make unauthorized access to stored credentials significantly more difficult.
-
Additional protection when unlocking
You open your database with a master password and can optionally secure access with an additional key file. This significantly increases protection against unauthorized opening.
-
Protection against brute-force attacks
Automatic delays and additional protection mechanisms make repeated unlock attempts significantly more difficult.
-
Backup copies
Password Depot creates automatic database backups that can be stored locally, on external media, or on servers – preferably via secure protocols such as SFTP. You can adjust the backup intervals to match your requirements.
Better protection for sensitive input
Protection against keylogging
Password Depot adds protection mechanisms to password fields that make it more difficult to intercept keystrokes and reduce the risk when entering sensitive data.
Minimizing sensitive data in memory
Sensitive data is processed in memory as sparingly as possible and then removed again. This significantly reduces the attack surface in memory analysis scenarios.
Clipboard protection
Password Depot reduces clipboard-related risks: content is transferred in a controlled way, then removed again, and access by other programs is made more difficult.
Virtual keyboard
The virtual keyboard provides an additional input method that can make classic keystroke capture more difficult.
Virtual mouse pointers
Multiple visible mouse pointers can make movement patterns harder to track.

Verified passwords
-
Strong, random passwords
The password generator creates strong, random passwords. Instead of simple passwords such as "Mausi", you use complex character strings that are much harder to guess or attack offline.
-
Verified password quality
The quality check evaluates your passwords and warns you about weak or easily guessable variants. This lets you quickly see where a change makes sense.
-
Password policies
You can define rules that new or changed passwords must meet, such as minimum length and allowed character types.
-
Security warnings
Password Depot points out risky configurations, such as the use of the insecure FTP protocol, and recommends secure alternatives such as SFTP.
-
Warning about easily guessable passwords
Password Depot warns you when passwords are commonly used or appear in word lists. Such passwords are especially attractive to attackers and should be replaced.
-
Warning about expiration dates
You can set reminders for the expiration dates of passwords, cards, or licenses. This helps you keep track of important deadlines.
Versatile features
Cards, identities, licenses, documents, and more
With Password Depot, you manage not only passwords, but also data for credit cards, debit cards, software licenses, identities, RDP, PuTTY, and TeamViewer connections, documents, or encrypted files. Suitable templates are available for all of these.
File attachments
You can add file attachments to password entries, open them directly in Password Depot, and save them separately when needed.
Transfer passwords
You can import entries from other password managers and export data from Password Depot. Wizards make switching easier.
Clean up databases
This function helps you find passwords that you have not used for a long time or that have already expired. You can then remove the entries found directly. This keeps your database up to date at all times.
Search password data
This function searches for a string you enter in your database – whether in the passwords themselves or, for example, in their descriptions and URLs. For more precise results, you can use logical operators and relations.
Encrypt external files
You can encrypt external files and store them as separate entries in your database. This gives confidential documents additional protection.
Self-extracting files
When encrypting external data, you can also create self-extracting files. This allows you to share content even with people who do not have Password Depot installed.
Delete external files
With Password Depot, you can securely delete external files. This makes later recovery significantly more difficult.
Convenient operation
-
User-friendly interface
The user interface is based on familiar Explorer structures. This makes navigation in databases easier and helps you find entries quickly.
-
Automatic filling
If you want, Password Depot automatically fills in your credentials on websites in common browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Edge. This is done via the integrated function and browser add-ons.
-
Automatic detection
You can configure the program to automatically detect which password data belongs to a website you open and preselect that password entry for you – and then optionally fill it in automatically.
-
Top bar
Password Depot can be reduced to a slim bar that can be positioned freely or docked to the edge of the screen. This keeps the software within reach while browsing, without getting in the way.
-
Open websites directly
URLs associated with password entries can be opened directly from within the program. This saves you from having to copy the website address manually and paste it into the browser.
-
Use with a mouse click
Using password data is straightforward with a mouse click. With a single click, you can copy data to the clipboard or drag it directly into the target field on the website.
-
Hotkeys
Password Depot includes keyboard shortcuts for common control commands in Windows. This lets you quickly bring the application to the foreground or turn it into a top bar.
-
Unicode support
Password Depot supports Unicode, the international standard that assigns a digital code to every character. This allows you to use international characters such as "ä" or "ç" in your password data.
-
Recycle bin
A recycle bin that stores deleted password data makes recovery possible. This means that, for example, data you removed by mistake is not lost permanently.
Custom settings
Configurable program options
Thanks to its many program options, our password manager can be configured down to the last detail – from the layout to features such as browser or network usage.
Custom browsers
You can decide for yourself which browsers you want to use with the program. This means you are not limited to common browsers such as Firefox or Edge, but can also use, for example, Opera.
Customized user modes
As a new user, you start in beginner mode; as an experienced user, in expert mode or in a self-defined mode.
Personal favorites
Mark important entries as favorites and access them faster. This makes frequently used credentials instantly available without long searches.
Custom fields
You can extend the existing data fields with any number of custom fields you define yourself. This is possible both for an individual password entry ("Custom Fields") and for the entire database ("Global Fields").
Password symbols
Assign symbols to your passwords so that you can find and identify them more easily. The symbols remain available even when you open your password file on another PC, because they are stored inside the password file.
Custom warning display
You can decide which warnings Password Depot should show and which it should not. You also define individually whether the program should warn you before a password expires and, if so, how many days in advance.
Password usage statistics
Clear statistics show at a glance how often you have used each password. This may also show you which entries you do not use at all and could remove in order to keep your database current.
